There is something special about fall in Canton, Georgia.

The mornings get a little cooler, the North Georgia mountains start showing off, football is in full swing, and suddenly everyone is looking for an excuse to spend a Saturday outside.

And while we love helping people find homes throughout Canton and Cherokee County, one of our favorite parts of what we do at the Maria Sims Group is getting to share the community we call home.

So, whether you recently moved to Canton, have lived here for years, or are considering making North Georgia home, here are a few ways to enjoy the season locally.

Spend an Evening in Downtown Canton

If you haven't spent much time in Downtown Canton lately, fall is the perfect excuse.

Grab dinner at a local restaurant, browse the shops, take a walk through downtown, and enjoy the small-town atmosphere that makes Canton feel so special.

One event to put on your calendar is First Friday in Downtown Canton on October 2 from 6–9 PM.

First Friday brings the community together for an evening of live entertainment, local businesses, food, and plenty of familiar faces. And yes—the Maria Sims Group will be there, too!

Come by our tent and say hello. We love getting the chance to see past clients, friends, neighbors, and new faces from around Cherokee County.

Taste Your Way Through Canton

Foodies, this one is for you.

Taste of Canton returns October 4 from 2–6 PM, giving you another reason to spend a fall afternoon downtown.

It's a fun opportunity to discover local restaurants, support Canton businesses, and experience a little bit of everything our growing community has to offer.

Events like this are one of our favorite things about living in Canton. Even as Cherokee County continues to grow, there is still a strong sense of community and support for the people and businesses that make this area unique.

Make a Day of The Mill on Etowah

You can't create a Canton fall bucket list without mentioning The Mill on Etowah.

The historic mill has become one of Canton's favorite gathering places, with restaurants, shopping, entertainment, green space, and events throughout the year.

On a beautiful fall afternoon, grab something to eat, sit outside overlooking the Etowah River, let the kids enjoy some space to play, or simply spend a few hours exploring.

It's also just minutes from Historic Downtown Canton, making it easy to turn the two into a full day out.

Take the Scenic Route

One of the best parts about living in Canton is having the North Georgia mountains practically in our backyard.

You don't necessarily need a destination. Pick a pretty Saturday, roll the windows down, grab a coffee, and head north.

From Canton, you can easily make a day trip toward Ball Ground, Jasper, Ellijay, or Blue Ridge and enjoy mountain views, local shops, apple orchards, hiking trails, and plenty of fall scenery along the way.

It's one of those simple things that reminds us why so many people love calling North Georgia home.

Support a Local Business

Here's our challenge for October: choose somewhere local you've never tried before.

Maybe it's a coffee shop you've driven past a hundred times, a locally owned boutique in Downtown Canton, a restaurant at The Mill, or a small business you've seen recommended in a community Facebook group.

Our local businesses are a huge part of what gives Canton its personality, and supporting them is one of the easiest ways to stay connected to the community.

Better yet, invite a neighbor or friend to go with you.

Why We Love Living in Canton, Georgia

People often find Canton while searching for more space, highly regarded schools, access to the North Georgia mountains, or a community within reach of Metro Atlanta.

But once you're here, you realize there's more to it than that.

It's running into someone you know downtown. It's community events filling the calendar. It's spending Saturday morning outside and still being close enough to Atlanta when you need it.

It's that balance between growth and small-town charm that continues to make Canton and Cherokee County such a special place to call home.

And that's exactly why we love doing business here.

At the Maria Sims Group, we've had the privilege of helping thousands of families buy and sell homes throughout Canton, Woodstock, Ball Ground, Waleska, Jasper, and the surrounding North Georgia communities.

But we're not just here to talk about real estate.

We're here to be a resource for the community we love.

So if you see us at First Friday, around Downtown Canton, or somewhere else around town this fall, come say hello.

Happy fall, y'all!
