There are moments that remind us just how special Cherokee County truly is—and our recent Back-to-School Drive & Community Closet was one of them.

Because of the incredible generosity of our community, more than 50 local children headed into the new school year with backpacks full of supplies, clothing, shoes, and something even more important: the confidence that comes from knowing their community cares.

For many families, preparing for a new school year can feel overwhelming. School supplies, clothes, shoes, and everyday essentials add up quickly. Thanks to your donations, we were able to help ease that burden and give parents a little more peace of mind while helping children feel excited, prepared, and ready for the year ahead.

It Truly Took a Village

This event would not have been possible without the amazing businesses, sponsors, and individuals who stepped up to make a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible community partners, including Avalon Home Inspections, Supreme Lending, House of Colour Canton, and the many generous individuals who donated supplies, clothing, shoes, and their time. Every backpack, every notebook, every pair of shoes, and every act of kindness helped make this event possible.

Because of your support, we were also able to provide gift cards to families, giving them the flexibility to purchase additional school supplies, clothing, or other necessities before the first day of school.

The Impact Didn't End When the Event Was Over

One of the most meaningful parts of this event happened after the last family left.

Thanks to the overwhelming response from our community, we were able to donate the remaining school supplies and clothing to organizations that continue serving local children and families every day. These incredible partners provide safety, shelter, stability, support, and hope for families navigating difficult circumstances, ensuring your generosity continues making a difference long after our event ended.

Knowing these donations will continue blessing families throughout our community is something we're incredibly grateful for.

There's Still Time to Make a Difference

As the school year begins, many classrooms and families are still in need of support.

If you've been looking for a simple way to help, consider:

  • Donating school supplies directly to your local school's front office.
  • Contacting your neighborhood church or faith-based organization to see if they're collecting supplies, clothing, or backpacks.
  • Supporting local organizations that serve children and families throughout the year.

Even a small donation can make a big difference in a child's confidence as they walk through the school doors.

Thank You for Loving Our Community

At the Maria Sims Group, we've always believed that real estate is about so much more than buying and selling homes—it's about serving the people who make this community such an incredible place to live.

To every sponsor, volunteer, donor, and family who trusted us to be a small part of this event, thank you. Your generosity reminded us what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

We are truly blessed to call Cherokee County home, and we're grateful for every person who partnered with us to help local families feel supported, encouraged, and loved. Together, we made a difference—and together, we'll continue finding ways to serve the community we all love.
