There’s just something special about a weekend in Downtown Canton.

Maybe it’s grabbing coffee before strolling through town, meeting friends for lunch, listening to live music, or ending the evening with dinner while the kids play nearby. Downtown Canton has grown so much over the years, but somehow, it has held onto that small-town feeling we love.

As local Realtors who live, work, and raise our families right here in Cherokee County, we get to see firsthand why so many people are falling in love with Canton, Georgia.

So, if you have a free weekend, here’s how we’d spend it.

Start Your Saturday Morning Slow

One of our favorite things about Canton is that Saturday mornings don’t have to feel rushed.

During farmers market season, the Canton Farmers Market is a great place to start. Grab a coffee, browse locally grown produce and handmade goods, and chances are you’ll run into someone you know.

That’s one of the things we love most about living here. Canton is growing, but it still feels like a community.

From there, take a walk through Downtown Canton, browse the local shops, or head toward the Etowah River.

Spend the Afternoon at The Mill on Etowah

If you’re new to Canton, The Mill on Etowah needs to be on your list.

What was once an old denim mill has become one of the area's favorite gathering places, with restaurants, shopping, entertainment, events, and plenty of room to simply hang out.

It’s the kind of place where you can meet friends for lunch, let the kids burn off some energy, browse a few shops, and suddenly realize you’ve spent most of the afternoon there.

And honestly? That’s exactly the point.

The Mill has become such a big part of the lifestyle here in Canton and one of the places we love showing people who are considering moving to the area.

Enjoy the Outdoors

One of the best parts about living in Canton, GA is how easy it is to enjoy the outdoors without giving up everyday conveniences.

Take a walk along the Etowah River, explore one of the nearby parks, or simply spend some time outside before heading back downtown.

And if you’re willing to venture a little farther from Downtown Canton, Cherokee County gives you access to even more hiking, trails, Lake Allatoona, and the beautiful North Georgia outdoors.

It really is the best of both worlds.

Make Dinner an Event

Saturday night is the perfect excuse to head back downtown for dinner.

Canton's restaurant scene has continued to grow, giving you plenty of choices whether you're planning date night, meeting another family, or just don't feel like cooking.

And when Downtown Canton has a concert, festival, First Friday, or another community event happening, the whole area seems to come alive.

Those are the nights that remind us why we love calling Canton home.

Don't Forget Sunday

Sunday in Canton is made for slowing down.

Grab brunch, take a drive through some of the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding downtown, visit a local park, or spend the afternoon relaxing at home.

And this is something we think people sometimes miss when they're searching for a home online:

You're not just choosing a house. You're choosing what you want your weekends to look like.

For some people, that's acreage and privacy.

For others, it's being close to restaurants, events, schools, and activities.

And for a lot of our clients, Canton offers a little bit of both.

Why So Many People Are Moving to Canton, Georgia

Canton has changed tremendously over the years, but the heart of the community is still here.

You have a growing downtown, The Mill on Etowah, local businesses, community events, outdoor recreation, and easy access to so many of the things that make North Georgia special.

Then, just outside of downtown, you'll find everything from established neighborhoods and swim-and-tennis communities to newer construction, active-adult communities, acreage, and homes tucked away in the North Georgia countryside.

There really isn't one single version of "living in Canton."

And that's exactly what makes it special.
